Planning Ahead with the LVCD: Goals for 2023

Creative Happenings in 2023

Your continued support and involvement with the following goals will play a significant role in lifting our local economy by making La Veta a destination for arts, culture, and entertainment.

Paint & Brew Artists at Mountain Merman Brewery

Our goals for 2023 include:

1. Continuing to develop the organization and its operations, including:
  • Marketing artists, creatives, and galleries. To support this effort, we need images of your work and events you are participating in.

  • Continuing to strengthen relationships with local clubs, organizations and associations to support local tourism, including developing trip/vacation planning for art tourism to include art workshops and multi-day art classes.

  • Hosting First Friday Art Walks and other LVCD signature events

  • Sharing resources on marketing your work; marketing your creative endeavor; and social media for artists and creatives.

2. Collaborating with artists and arts organizations to host workshops, classes and learning events. In 2023, we have already hosted two fun, highly successful events:
  • Introduction to the Mountain Dulcimer with renowned dulcimer historian and player Kim McGee. Kim led 10 participants on this delightful instrument.

  • Paint & Brew at the Mountain Merman Brewery led by beloved La Veta artist and educator, Amber Huff. A flock of participant-painters gathered to paint one of the world’s most silent and adept night hunters, the owl, while sipping on pints of an ancient brew. Video on Facebook: Facebook

3. Hosting community mixers and round tables to hear thoughts and ideas about how we can continue to support La Veta’s economy through creativity, culture and the arts

4. Pursuing state funding, grant opportunities and fundraising support
